I'm looking for free CMS (content management system), something like E107, what is the best CMS for gallery sites? I need "sort by", comment & rating system, display of image resolution
Joomla is the best CMS and you will find many useful Gallery components in Joomla with required functionalities.
Joomla is not the best - overbloated and a general mess. You can make wordpress work for you as a cms. Haven't tried ModX yet, but it's very appealing to me.
I would say Drupal it is amazing, open source with a big community with many skins and modifications.
Joomla is difficult lol, wordpress is silly, and php-fusion is 2 boring. BUT Php-fusion is so easily editable is unbalievable, you can make anything out of php-fusion. News website, community site, dating site, music site, anything But i recon that unique gallery script would be better, you would look more professional so add me on msn if u want i could sort something out for a small price.
Joomla is by far the best. Bloated for a reason, its called no restrictions. Joomla is by far the most popular, and has the most components and modules etc... Wordpress would be a step in the wrong direction. Might as well stetup a blogger account. With Joomla you can create a simple blog, or a massive social networking site. Whats best is it is very simple to figure out, allows for optimal content management. Pick Joomla and you wont go wrong. I should be getting paid for this....I sound like a commercial
I've extensively used Joomla, Elgg, Drupal, and a plethra of less known CMS systems. Although Elgg is more of a community/social network-ish script, it can still be used as a CMS comparable to Joomla and Drupal. I'm not sure about which one is "better" from a technical standpoint but I can honestly say that Drupal has been the best experience thus far as an administrator. Things just tend to WORK with Drupal. It has been one of the only CMS scripts that I have not had a massive amount of problems with. I lost count of the amount of broken plugins that I tried to use with Joomla and Elgg. Joomla does have some powerful features, but I was almost always able to find modules for Drupal that were just as powerful and with way less hassle in the backend. There were also some roles/permissions that I was able to easily modify within Drupal that was not do-able in Joomla for free. I think it seriously depends on what you want to do, but altogether I'd recommend Drupal over all the rest. Fast, smart, easy... and, of course, free!
Sure, you sound like a commercial, but you also sound like someone who doesn't code for him/herself. If you were even the least bit decent with PHP and MySql, you could EASILY make Wordpress do whatever you want. So why don't people who understand coding themselves answer these questions?
I like Joomla and Wordpress. If you looking just a blog style then go for wordpress. If you are looking for a social site then pick Joomla. They are both great.
First off friend, I have worked with php and mysql for over 4 years and have created hundreds of websites using many different CMS systems, therefore I am the perfect person to answer these questions. One of the main reasons people choose to use a CMS is because they do not know how to code, and the CMS does all the work for them. In this case, why search for someone to develop a custom coded component, that will work on wordpress, when Joomla already has the perfect system? My vote is Joomla, with Drupal a close second.
because JOOMLA IS SLOW ! Wordpress is ALOT BETTER ! Joomla websites look like the websites I blog about LOL
Alright, and I commend you for that. Personally, I use CMSs for my customer's satisfaction. If there isn't one that compliments what they need, then I always have my own CMS on hand. And I would develop a custom coded component for Wordpress simply because it would still be smaller than any component for Joomla. Hands down though, the best CMS that I've ever worked with was ExpressionEngine. If you want to see what it's capable of, then check out their showcase. It will blow your mind. By the way, this reinforces my answer to your question.
