Hi, I wrote some articles and I want to sell them on this forums. Now, I'm wondering if I should format them into HTML files of just sell them in TXT or DOC files.. What do you think about it ?? What is the best format for me so I could sell my articles for an interesting price for me ?? Also, those articles are related together. For example, I wrote many articles about the history of Olympic Games and it's sure that it would be better for a buyer to get them all. Do you think I should put them in HTML files with a menu page and links between the articles ?? Thank you for your help
I'd stick to .doc so the buyer can see the intended formatting, but offer to give them copies in plaintext too. If it's in plaintext, they can easily add it to their site, no matter how it's coded (especially if they need their existing stylesheet to determine the look of things).
You could do all three. It's not that hard to convert a .doc file to a .html or .txt. It could mean less work for your buyers.
Okay article if I see the info. But it can be a lot better. Also, there are some issues that I noticed. The very first line after the title: Women are more risky? I guess it is wrong sentence construction. It should something like, "Women are at higher risk". Another point, I feel that you can add a nice introductory paragraph. Try to keep the paragraphs connected to each other. The last subheading of eye problems looks like entirely different topic even if it is closely related to hyperthyroidism. I hope you'll consider this as constructive criticism Cheers!
Okay, worked a bit on the article (it's now 1244 words I think) and wrote a second one (1020 words for this one).. If you want to take a look Still the same link : http://alber.host-ed.net/
I would also advice that you stay with TXT or DOC files. Client's needs differ and they can align it accordingly. If you are doing both formats then try to archive (ZIP) it.
Most of my clients prefer their articles to be zipped, with both a .txt and a .doc inclusion. The one thing that I've found is that few clients like the .docx that come out of the new Word.
Try and give your articles to the client in as many different formats as possible. This way, the client can use whichever one he/she want with having the hassle of changing it. Yes, it may only take a few seconds, but it's the little things like that which make clients come back
I can agree with that. The more you have to offer in the way of customer service (making things as easy as possible on clients), the more likely they will pay for your service and retain you.
For what is worth, I'm using Open Office more and more for my web work because of its ease of creating PDF files so if I was to purchase any articles that had complex formatting I would want it in Open Office format as well as word and text. Open Office will open most word docs just fine but I'm always a little hesitant if there are any tables or fancy formatting like tables, bookmarks, pagination, etc.
You better use TXT format. Some people don't have MS Word, so they can't open DOC format. But all people have notepad to open TXT.
I fully agree with AccountSeller, but I think there are not people who don't have MS Word. But maybe I'm wrong.
Word is also pretty much the standard, and those who don't have it can open the files with OpenOffice. Sending it only in txt format is a problem, because the client doesn't get to view the intended formatting (which is a big part of knowing how to write for the Web).
