What is the best for shared hostng and VPS hostig from these hosts?

I am willing to order a shared hosting plan from one of following web hosts. Then with the time I am willing to upgrade my plan to a VPS with the same host because some of my web sites such as forums, social community sites may consume more CPU usage with the growth of community. So I want to know what is the best reliable host for this purpose without any problems. Here are the hosts that I am looking for..

    -Namecheap
    -HostGator
    -1&1

Please tell me your experience with them. Who is the more customer friendly host? If any other well established web host offer both shared hosting and VPS hosting you have experienced do not bother to mention it. Thanks in advance.

None of them are really popular for VPS hosting, but they are well known for quality shared hosting.

Hostgator used to be super fast but now is way too slow. Oversell!

I just dropped 3 reseller packages over there. Feel so good.

For VPS hosting, I would go with Linode. Yes, it's more expensive but you won't have problems you usually have with cheap providers.

Have you experienced with Namecheap shared hosting and VPS hosting? What you can say about their support and network up time?

Using a domain registrar for your hosting needs is normally not the best idea. I can't think of a single domain registrar who provides even decent hosting services.

Out of the three I recommend HostGator definitely not 1&1.
