alot of people think that performance is only based on the clock speed of the processor, but there are alot of other variables that effect performance,

i found a website that took most processors and tested them for performance.

lol my current CPU tested at 440 something lol

the CPU i want Intel core i7 975 tested at 7445 but its $1000 not really that expensive, a crappy 4.0ghz processor from Intel was $4000 once time.

    i found a Intel i7 925 for $280 and 950 for $560. 950 tested at 6800

you want to take a look at the chart
    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/common_cpus.html

there is also a performance test for multi systems
    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/multi_cpu.html

    the best cpu there is
    intel xeon X7350 2.93ghz
it starts at $2000 and ends somewhere over $3000

the fastest cpu is always expensive, but the key is to buy the best value like intel core i7 925

There is no best cpu .
All we know is the bottleneck is the motherbroad, not cpu .
If the motherbroad and cpu collaborate well, it is best/fast cpu and best motherbroad .

lmao what is it with you people and titles?
the "Intel core 2 duo" is around $200 and its benchmark i 1849
Intel core i7 965's benchmark is 6776 buts its like 1k or something
    3 times better
but the most affordable core i7 is Intel Core i7 Processor i7-920 it's benchmark is 5449 and its $270, i would pay extra $70 to get a CPU almost 3 times better then the one for $200.

BTW the Intel xeon X7350 2.93ghz
starts at $2000 and ends somewhere over $3000 but its benchmark is 16,715.

the performance isn't based just on the CPU frequency, many people think it is and they look at processors like 4.0ghz or amds 3.7ghz BTW amd's CPUs do processes per cycle but Intel does 6 processes per cycle, so in comparison with Intel amds 3.7 ghz would be 33% faster so it would compare at 4.921ghz. but benchmark is more important because it measures overall performance.
