My favorite is e107. It's very easy to setup and administer. There are also plenty of themes and plugins, and the program is free. Worth trying out.
joomla sucks - it's to heavy and hard, for ppl who never used any cms before, also it's very heavy for mysql and SLOW wordpress good, but...a little bit hard to understand. drupal is best what i have used before. BUT, the best CMS is your own CMS i have my own cms, and i can do what i want, any modules, hacks and etc. it's easy to edit, and i dont have to hire somebody
for me wordpress is the best CMS I have ever used. WordPress is an excellent CMS when it comes to blogging and publishing your brain-work and thoughts. Wordpress is currently being used by 202 million websites. This particular CMS is commonly used as a basic content management system. It has many features such as widgets which can be arranged without editing the HTML, Search engine friendly, multiple categories to a blog post can be created and allows tagging of blog posts and articles.
For me Wordpress is best cause I can get a site up and running very quickly. Maybee there are more advanced CMS out there. But WP get the job done, it's stable, easy to upgrade, easy to maintain and has lots of free plugins and templates.
I think it would be hard to say anything other than Wordpress. Why? Well based on the sheer flexibility of the CMS. Plugins and Themes with 1 click installs make it far more flexible and easy to use than anything I've tried before.
i love wordpress for a CMS. Sure, it's known for blogging but you don't need to use it for a blog at all.. you can use it to easily manage your websites content without even having a blog on there. You name your URL's with unique meta data for all of the pages.. it's mature.. has a great community.. you can update it easily without even opening FTP.. so it's good for seo. it's easy to build templates.. it's fast. I hate joomla but I guess it's different strokes for different folks. sure.. there are more templates for joomla.. but how hard really is it to convert a joomla template to a wp template? I can do one in just a few hours.. max 8.
I tried pretty many CMSes but I still cannot name a single one the best. Some of them are good for basic sites, others for complicated. Some have more features, templates, but they all can be of no use for your site really. Anyway, now I use Subrion CMS for all my sites - it's free php mysql content management system
