I'm about to open a website (forum based) in which I need the ability to display specific ads on specific pages. For example... Lets say I have a website that has fifty different pages (one for each state in the US) and within those "state pages", there are "category pages" such as "furniture", "electronics", "clothing".... Now say I want to create seperate ad campaigns for all of these pages... Ex: I want to create a campaign that only sells the ad space on the "furniture in texas" page to those advertisors looking to advertise to people who are from texas and looking for furniture... And so on for every other category and state... From your experience (or those you know) what is the best ad managemet software for this particular request. Also I would like a system in which I could include multiple ad networks that would compete for the spots... I know google ad manager does something like this but I was somewhat confused on how that works. Is there an ad management system out there that could handle this in a fairly straight forward and simply manner or am I getting really complicated here. I know there were quite a few questions in there but if anyone has experiece being an online publisher for ads (an individual that sells ads on their site) I would very much appreciate any information you have as I am just starting out. Thanks, Chase Brumfield
look into OpenX that can be used for really complex websites, thats what i would suggest anyway, good luck
I have to second that. Openx is by far the best software I've seen for this purpose. Its hot geo targetting built in but not sure about down to state level with the basic geo dump from maxmind so you might have to pay more. With the free geo dump I deliver country specifc banners and it increases CTR big time ! One tip though, download the tar and not the zip , don't ask ! Any other questions and we are here to help
For a new user would you say that OpenX has a pretty big learning curve?... Larger than Google Ad Manager? I've really been looking at Google Ad Manager lately because of their ability to fill your unused ad space... can you guys make a case for me to go with OpenX instead? Thanks, Chase Brumfield
