It will only help on SERPs, submitting with good title to many directories has proven to improve Google rankings but you need great content to back it up... It will bring no traffic and no PR; I have 2 sites on DMOZ and never, ever got a single click yet and that's DMOZ, so I don't think you get anything from 'Red Giant SEO Link Free Submit Now' directory
once upon a time when there where only a few directories, and google didn't rule the earth, people used them and google trusted them, but now there really isn't any benefit, only wasted time. However some people still practice directory submission, just like some people still believe in ghosts and goblins
I use them to build backlinks and to contribute to my attempts to get sites ranking for keywords and keyword phrases. Naturally this and other methods gradually increase pr. And if its not too competitive then my sites get traffic.
I think directories are manily used for SEO these days. They will help you get better SERPs and your site will be crawled more often. It also helps your PR and traffic, but main purpose is certainly SEO.
Help to PR value? a bit, but nothing to get excited about Bring Traffic? rarily, except for some niche directories help to SERP? yes, especially since you can target specific keywords
directories will help you get better rankings for your targeted keywords, and with rankings comes the traffic..
I see that you started your post with Once Upon a Time, so does that mean that everything you just said was made up?
Technically none of the above. DIRECTORY is the only Friend new site owner has simply because no other site will give him/her BACKLINK for something that just came freshly baked out from the oven. fastreplies
NO, it means that it is true that there was a benefit, .... a very long time ago.... but not any more, if you keep up with the newest and latest in SEO you will know there is no benefit, and that your site can even be PENALIZED, for being listed low quality link farms link farms. So why spread misinformation, and perpetuate old news, unless you have vested interest in selling link directory software.
I dont follow any seo blogs, but i do keep an eye on my own sites and what i use, how things are doing etc, and well... directories work for me. Theres quite a few things that can lead to a penalised site. I have invested interest and time into my own web drectories, and continue to submit various types of sites to directories.
Now. I will re-post the following for you personally so you can explain to us why you're spreading misinformation fastreplies
I wish Google penalized for directory submissions and back links from "bad neighborhoods". I know a couple of sites that would soon have many thousands of links pointing to them from directories and link farms. I think the entire bad neighborhood thing has to do with You Linking To Them. Not the other way around.
It all depends on the directory is question, and its content and how it interacts with its visitors From what I have noticed, quality directories do give you some traffic and they DO help you rank for your targeted keyword...Also as fastreplies said for new sites it's hard to get backlinks so directories also help new sites gain "web credibility" is some way
If the directory that you have submitted is good means, you will get quality back link from that directory and of course little traffic also.
