What is the benefit of having your web site searched?

In looking at some of my competitors I've found a site that has a great PR which he got by using Black Hat means IMO. (which I discovered by analyzing his site).

In doing some other analysis I found out that the name of his site is being typed into the search engines a lot on a frequent basis. In looking at keyword suggestions from DP I can tell that these aren't natural searches by surfers, so I would be interested in finding out what is the benefit of having your web site searched....(ie somebody typing in digital point into google). Will this help your serps?

Why would anyone fake search results...

Any black hat stuff that goes on happens for financial reasons...having non-real visitiors visit your site has no financial benefit to anyone (unless you are paying PPC).

I think these search terms are actually real users btw, trust me, people can search for really wierd things... :)

Course they are ~ they have built a brand and people are looking for it...

    Nothing going on there...

    :/

Also, you wouldn't find anything that could fake his PR by looking on his site... PR is influenced by links only...

When I meant when I said that I analyzed his site, I was referring to analyzing the sitest that were linking to him.

I don't want to argue about branding vs something else....but I know that these aren't natural searches, as I did some more playing around, which showed me it was more of keyword stuffing for the S.Es.

Ignoring this specific case, but what would the benefit be of having a bot enter you name in google and yahoo searches along with other keywords?

Do the search engines add some weight if your url is searched for frequently with keywords? Maybe in serps?
