What is the benefit of a directory?

People is so much in 'directory thing'. But I am really confused about the potential benefit ! During my 1 month experience i found that most of the links people submit is bad quality ! So the bottom line is What is the benefit of a directory?

 

There's only a real benefit if the owner of the directory has strict criteria for excepting websites.

 

I agree with that. And as my recent thread has explained in regards to my directory, I'm scoring some traffic on keywords I never would have thought of before due to people placing their sites in my directory. Traffic = income for me

 

But what about submitters? why dont they submit quality links?

 

becuase a shitty site cant get promoted too well otherwise... takes 5 seconds to submit to a directory. 5 seconds to delete it too..

remove pharmacy, health, gambling and finance categorys and you will get better sites submitted i guarantee you (joke)

just continue on editing out the shitty sites .. even featured links and paid submissions if its a shitty site refund them and move on

 

getting backlinks. nothing else.
