I've spend the morning reading some of the threads in this section and submitted my sites to a few. What is the benefit in creating a list directory? I mean, to the owner. We see loads and loads popping up all over the place. Yes everyone wants backlinks to their site, that's why they submit to the directory. But what does the owner gain out of the site? Thanks.
Your best bet is to ask yourself, it depends what you expect, aparts from backlinks, what else do you think is the benefit?
Well if you manage to get your directory to really Premium and high standard directory then you will see the benefits, you will make some good money, but it is hard to achive,
The owner makes some money out of the directory, thats the whole point behind it usually, and thats one of the main benefits.
He can use it for his own sites and can also make money by selling advertisements, links or reviews. But, it has to be a quality directory.
I hate these 'Politicians answers' where they answer a question with a question, it usually means they haven't got a clue why they're doing what they are doing so they can't possibly answer. Not saying the posters above are like that, its just a general view I have on that type of response. Why do people create directory list? Out of sheer boredom Companionship it can bring with people on forums like this. Possible wealth Satisfaction of having something they can call their own. That's just four, I'm sure there are lots more but at least I thought I'd start with those.
Im a failed librarian, im banned from all the libraries in the UK for being too loud, so running directories is the next best thing for me.
Money is what motivates me to start directories. But you can't earn big with adsense on directories, conversion rates are terrible.
well i think there are way too many directories around, everyone is making one ...so if you really really really really want to do a good job you could try it, if not do something else
It is like asking...what does the owner gain out of his little business... ? Of course...coat button yeah ? Yeah, but for some directories you need to pay also to get listed. Not just to submit & skip the payment like you did yesterday on one of mine. Because of those like we are using the ban option very often, developed mods for anti-spam, and so on. Try to be more serious and open your eyes dude.
What you need to look at though spyrit is that just as soon as a new directory is opened, one is closed, we just don't always here about that.
