What is the average bounce rate a website should have?

my website has 35.46% bounce rate is it good to have that much bounce rate or should it be higher my website is http://bit.ly/esKCH6

Higher? You want your bounce rate to be as low as possible. See: http://bit.ly/3IDQs0
The lower your bounce rater, the more each visitor is sticking around. Ultimately 0% would be ideal.

 

It depends on the type of website. Ideally you want it to be as low as possible as it indicates that the visitor is actively browsing the site. One of my affiliate sites has a bounce rate of ~75%, which is ok for me as my traffic is organic and lands on specific product pages where the end goal (by delivering quality unique information) is to redirect them to another page.

 

It depends on the vertical - use analytics intelligence or whatever it's called to compare your site to benchmark stats for other sites in your industry, it's easy to find in Google Analytics and totally free.

More important than the bounce rate over time is to watch for spikes in the bounce rate, high bounce rate pages...things like that.

 

a 30% bounce rate is freaking good! Most sites are well above 50%

 

Depends what you want from your visitors. All my sites are designed to have a high bounce rate, the higher the better for me..

bounce rate depends on several factors, hence invariably there would not be a average pattern relevant to all websites which are different in nature and catering to diverse audiences. but a lower bounce rate definitely speaks volumes of the stickiness of the web-page on which a visitor is landing....

i think if you sell something or provide information on your site then its supposed to be < 40%
if you promoting affiliate then bounce rate doesn't important (as long as visitor go to your affiliates) you just have to track it with google analytic

 

The ideal bounce rate of an optimized website should be in between 38% to 45%..
