Hi, For ex, I searched a keyword via below: http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/ and a number appears near the keyword so what is the amount in google? I mean I have to multiply with what? 2X 3X 4X?
That number tells you how many people searched on a particular phrase in the last month. I'm not sure if it's from Google or Yahoo or what - maybe someone else knows that. I know that the advertisers who USE Overture get their listings in Yahoo, not Google, so it might be based on that.
Yahoo now owns overture as far as I know, so I think that this site is based on Yahoo searches..I might be wrong though
It is hard to advise on a multiple - I have searched the web before and not found any solid information. I would use a straightforward comparison on the overall share of the search market that Google has versus Overture with a caveat - I have read several times that Overture inflates the numbers so be cautious.
Based on what I've read, you should multiply Overture's numbers by 8 to estimate Google searches. I would guess that this assumes that Overture's numbers are accurate, however, and also based on what I've read, as well as my personal experience...they frequently aren't. Kind of vague, I know, but such is life when it comes to the estimation game... Sam
