Alexa ranking is supposed to be about the traffic you recieve. Unfortunately it's more about how many people have their browser toolbar installed - this is where they get most of their data from (apparently they have other sources now...). This means that anyone who wants their site to have a good Alexa ranking (and it appears that more and more people are wanting this) they just install the toolbar and make sure their site is their homepage and that the visit lots of pages everyday... there are even automated tools out there that help improve your Alexa ranking. So inconclusion it's nice to have an Alexa ranking but it only really means something to those who don't know how the data is collected.
Thanks for your reply, but please tell me the meaning of " something to those who don't know how the data is collected".
The average user of Alexa that isn't a webmaster - of which I'm not sure there is such a thing because it's mostly webmasters that use Alexa - may think that the data is accurate and realistic but in reality that isn't true because the figures are (were?) easy to manipulate.
Well, you just need to go to alexa and see your website traffic details. If its your first time you need to verify and reg with alexa first. Cheers
