What is that software that types the words you speak?

I just can't remember the name of the software. But I am looking for a software that processes/types the words as you speak them on your laptop phone.

Is the software free? Might be a good idea to try it out myself.

Dragon's is capable of adapting it's algorithms according to your voice and accent . All you need is a good microphone and a decently quiet room . It's also capable of controlling your computer . And amazing piece of software if you ask me , worth every penny .

I haven't tried dragon but with MS speech recognition, it is a problem for people of Asian origin. You have to be very careful with the accent; after trial and error, you will find it easier to type than correcting the mistakes in the sentences...

OK, I have tried Dragon and the MS speech recognition - at this stage, they simply don't work! Of course, if all you want is to launch this or that application or type a few words without touching the mouse, then that's fine, but if you think that you can actually dictate some larger text and get it right, then forget about it.

You can watch demonstration videos, where people dictate and the computer types it nice and clean, but the reality is that the computer gets it wrong 50%-75% of the time, so instead of typing an article for two minutes, you would spend your time making correction after correction and it would take you longer to type the same article.

Thank you guys for your feedback. What I want to do is read a book. Will Dragon recognize all the words correctly? What are possible corrections that would likely happen after I read the book?

I actually tried using MS speech recognition before, but it didn't work for me. It can't recognized my accent. LOL My message turned out to be a funny line. Yet, I still tried to send to my friend. I tried checking out the dragon site, seems like it's commonly used by business professionals right?

If the speech recognition software is any good, it will take the user through a detailed "training session" so that it can learn your accent or other verbal mannerisms and peculiarities. It should not pose a problem to have an accent or even certain speeck impediments.

Microsoft Speech Recognition. It came pre-installed on my Sony Vaio Windows 7 laptop. It works remarkably well.
