What is tax ID number in paypal?

    I am using UK bank verified paypal account today i login to my account and it say verify 'tax ID number'
    Anyone please confirm me what is tax ID number.

    tax number is only for US citizen, you can just ignore it

    tax ID is a funny thing. Cuz when I had added SSN into paypal account and the comfirmation email sent to me by paypal is 'You had added a tax ID to the account'... WTF.

    You shouldn't need it if you are not a US citizen or national. If you are then it is only for people making over $20,000 and who use PayPal to operate a business.

    Tax ID number can apply if you registered as a business (i.e. LLC) or SSN if you're a USA citizen if you don't own a business. Make sure all correspondent you receive is actually from Paypal before disclosing such sensitive information to protect yourself from identity theft.
