No, this is not an alternative to PayPal. You can use it to sell softwares etc. and can accept payments via CC, Wire, PayPal etc. They make monthly or fortnightly payments to your PP a/c or your bank a/c (if you are from US) If you are planning to use it for selling some kind of softwares then please read their rules. They do not allow some kinds of s/ws and stuff and may ban your accounts even if you have collected some sales revenue into it. Thanks
It's just another payment processor. They're owned by Digital River I think. You can use them to collect income from sales, or opt to use your own merchant account elsewhere. Sometimes it's easier to cut out the middleman and handle the entire checkout process yourself. Especially if you are fed up with low transaction fees in exchange for questionable upsell tactics and misleading rebills. Good luck.
