    What's a "supplemental result?"

A supplemental result is just like a regular web result, except that it's pulled from our supplemental index. We're able to place fewer restraints on sites that we crawl for this supplemental index than we do on sites that are crawled for our main index. For example, the number of parameters in a URL might exclude a site from being crawled for inclusion in our main index; however, it could still be crawled and added to our supplemental index.

A place where sites with duplicate content are placed.

Duplicate content, lack of backlinks. Work on that and you could get a higher pr with less supp pages.

Duplicate content, lack of trust, lack of inner page inbounds ...

Duplicate content might be one of the several reason for any page to be considered eligible for supplimental results, but I do not think that the supplimental index includes all pages with duplicate content.

Are you an SEO? I hope you read some materials about that statement and I think you must join forums like highrankings so you can understand some of those things.

Also, why don't you watch Matt Cutts video for you to understand. I have been reading SEO articles and references in years, and the only statement I realized that Supplemental pages appeared when there are similar content. Let us also consider orphaned pages or aged pages that are not optimized for a long period of time.
