What is Social Media optamization?

SMO, SEO, SEM...all 3 letter whatchamacallits...acronyms...so much for English...

Strategically Placing Valuable Content or Access covers it all folks.... SPVCA

 

I am the member of some Bookmarking sites but there is no traffic on my sites.

 

Through SEO we boost our site, through SEM we do marketing then we can so by SMO we make a connection with people which is online? am I right or not?

What is the fundamental difference in use between:
1) A social network like myspace
and
2) A social bookmarking site like : Digg

How would you integrate each one into a traffic generation strategy for a website?

It increase your linkability,make tagging & bookmarking easy, reward inbound links, help your content travel and encourage the mashup.

 

Good question and I'm sure someone else can add to this, but I would view something like MySpace as a sort of "bonus" website. It is not officially affiliated with your primary domain. By this I mean it doesn't share an IP or domain name with your primary domain. However you still have full control over content and can add content and links to your primary domain as you see fit.

Where as a bookmarking site is more reliant on other people finding interest in your current site and bookmarking it. This aspect is much more dependent on outside sources (taggers) so your control isn't as good. This method can definitely drive a lot of traffic very quickly, but it depends on you putting up fresh new content that is something different/unique that will spark interest for people to want to tag it. And as fast as traffic can come in through this method, it can drop off just as quickly.
