It has been a few years since I was a member. As I recall it allows you to code your page only once. You insert a smartzone into your html. Then you control what appears on your page by adding or deleting things from the smartzone settings at the CJ site.

If you change ads very often it really is a time saver and you don't have to ftp your page to your server every time you change something.

SmartZones can be used differently depending on how the merchant sets it up.

Well the OP was banned, but SmartZones are still quite useful. I do all of my own coding and I still use CJ SmartZones for ad rotations in spots where I run banners and skyscrapers.

Instead of inserting a banner/link code from CJ, you insert a bit of Javascript. Then in the CJ interface, you build up a Smartzone. (Well first, build the SmartZone, then you will get the javascript to insert.)

Once you have defined the SmartZone, you can add banners to the Zone. They should all be the same size. Then you can define a weight and CJ will rotate the banners for you according to that weight. If you want to add/remove banners from your ad rotation, you do it through the CJ interface.
