SmartPricing is Adsense's way of automatically adjusting your earnings per click based on the performance/conversions of the clicks you get..
For example: If your ads are placed in a way that people accidentally click on them thinking they are site-navigation links, and never buy anything or immediately leave the advertisers page, your account may be smartpriced because your clicks do not convert for the advertiser. - Keep in mind also that smartpricing is account-wide.. Meaning if you have ads on multiple websites, it affects all of your earnings.

So, if you're smartpriced, you might see your earnings per click go from $0.25 per click down to $0.01 per click.. On the other hand, if all of your clicks convert for the advertisers your earnings per click (in theory) may go from $0.25 per click up to $0.50 per click.. For most people SmartPricing means earnings go DOWN..

If you've been smartpriced there is not a whole lot you can do.. You can do what you can to improve your conversions (make sure you're not 'tricking' visitors into clicking).. Also, since smartpricing seems to readjust every week or so, you could remove all your ads for 7-8 days, then put them back.. This MIGHT give you fresh UNsmartpriced earnings, but depending on how much you loose during that 7-8 days may not make it worth it..

Usually, when someone gets smartpriced real bad, the only solution is a wobbly stool and some rope..

Like Tearabite explained, the best way to "outsmart" smartpricing is to offer content that doesn't attract clicks... but something that's useful for the readers - something that doesn't trick them to clicks... but to provide them additional links if they want more info.

I have a feeling that smart pricing act only with individual websites but not with an account in whole.
