Hi, I got a blog, and I want to conduct a RSS submission. What is RSS submission exactly? Is it similar to ping back? How do I do it?
It's submitting your feed to different RSS directories - you can find their list in Google. That helps you rule the world. But wait, Tim Buchalka will come here now and sell you his tool 8)
Just as their are regular search engines, their are also RSS search engines and RSS directories that contain only RSS feeds. They work the same as regular directories and search engines and may result in links back to your site. Here is a list of places you can submit your feeds: http://www.rss-specifications.com/rss-submission.htm
An RSS document (A.K.A a "feed", "web feed",or "channel") includes full or summarized text, plus meta-data such as publishing dates and authorship. Web feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place. Google accepts RSS 2.0 and Atom 1.0 feeds. If you have a blog with an RSS or Atom feed, you submit the feed's URL as a Site-map. Most blog software creates your feed for you. If your site doesn't have a feed, you can use Feed-burner to create and publish one. Note that the feed may only provide information on recent URLs.
