I'm new to blogging, want to become a full time blogger and learning every day. I was wondering what exactly RSS feed, how does it work and what does it do. I searched and all I found is: it lets people know that you added new content.. How does it work though? Does it email people? Whenever I click on RSS feed all I get is a white page with my content on it.. Thanks!
It didn't teach me anything unless this is right: The latest post comes up first when you visit the site..
Latest post always comes up first. It has no relation with RSS feed. RSS feed is just pulls the info from your blog and send it to the users who have subscribed to your feed. If they choose email notification method that RSS feed will be delivered to their email IDs. If they choose any RSS reader then when they login to their readers they will see your feed updated and read your blog post. Hope you clear now?
Okay, thank you for information, could you explain why I get a white page with my content on it whenever I click on the RSS feed link? What do you mean by subscribing to my feed.. I don't think I saw a form where you can put in your email address to receive the updates.. So I'm guessing my question is now.. how does the RSS feed find your email address..
Different browsers show RSS feeds differently. Because of the nature of RSS, it is supposed to have no styling at all (hence the Really Simple Syndication). It is up to your browser how to display and handle them. Some browsers will just show them, others will give you options to subscribe etc. You need to use an RSS tool, such as feedburner to subscribe to RSS feeds.
it makes user who loved your site doesn't have to visit your web every time they online, they just need open mail box and your content automatic sent to their mailbox,...
