all the above are wrong reverse seo is reverse engineering a person's site to evaluate how they have got to no.1 in google. It is simple to do. Go to yahoo site explorer and type in the competitor's domain. You will see what links they have to their site. Go and get the same links or more from the same sources and theoretically you will outrank them.

Hey use link diagnosis. This site provides the links of your competitors sites in the nice manner with page rank. Or you could install seo quake for firefox then use yahoo site explorer. this will show you 1000 links of your competitor and seo quake will provide the rank, whois and many other details of the site. Use the best links you find, some you will be able to build a backlink to some you won't. But try all the ways you can to get the link. Asking is always a great option. This process of checking out competitor sites or related site and then pursuing their links is what reverse seo is all. Im not to sure what offersking is talking about but I'd put that in the category of brand/reputation management. Hope this helps

Reverse engineer the competition by doing what they do and then more of it. Take their links, and also the amount of pages they have indexed. The rate they bring out new material etc. and go one step further. Nothing blackhat. Just working harder(better) than your competition.
