What is required to increase online retail traffic and sales

Hi all this is my first post, I want to make it more conversational

Web site owners want to drive traffic to their respective sites by providing viewers with the best site experience. So the million dollar question is - what would make shoppers visit and re-visit a site? Is it the content, graphics or other factors (what are they), or easy user interfaces, that contribute towards better web traffic and conversion?

I welcome all your views and suggestions... :)

    Also tell me
    your website name...
your specialization in the field of internet marketing

So let us go ahead... :D

    Content.

Know nothings will tell you it's traffic. Wrong. It's a piece of the puzzle. But content is what brings visitors recurring. The online game is not about getting one hit wonders in traffic (aka pump n dump).

It's about getting people to visit on a regular basis.

Next is conversions. Whether a membership in paid, or sign up. You have to provide them VALUE on whatever it is you are offering.

Content still the king, but nowadays Graphic are very important too.

People wont trust a company with an ugly logo, old design styles, etc.
So I would say dont just focus on Content only, keep Graphics in mind

About easy user interfaces, it deppends on your visitors (target), if you have a website about web coding, ajax, etc your users will find the way around your website because they know a lot about computer and websites.

But if your website is about Decoration and Cooking, your target will be housekeepers with less computer skills, therefore it has to be way more simple.

    I would rank
    Content first
    Graphic second
    User Interface last.

Nah. This is thinking like a webmaster. You need to think like an AOL user

    1. Content first. (the reason the come)
    2. Easy of use, and navigation second. (make it easy for everyone.)
    3. Looking purty dead last. (many ugly sites make a mint, hence ...)

But that is just my 2 cents. I could be wrong.
    ;)

Content is key! Information sells, especially if it is quality info. If your site benefits your visitors, is easy to navigate, easy to read and looks professional, then visitors are more likely to return and spread the work about you ;)

Honestly, I'll look at the graphical side of it first :p If it's too ugly or too shiny, it turns me off straight away, unfortunately..

    1. Content
    2. Content that people want/need
    3. User friendly - easily navigable
    4. Updating site with new content often over a long period of time.
    5. Linking out to resourceful information on a regular basis...

Those are my top 5

My 2-pennorth is that graphics only become a factor if they are really really bad - if the look is distracting, takes ages to load, confusing, or just too gimmicky it can turn people off.
If the graphics are functional, people don't even notice if the site's good looking or not.

i do notice that a good deal of my visitors to my store are return visitors , some with 30+ visits. How ever my sales have literally stoped!. i do not know what i did wrong or what caused this to happen? even when i put the whole store on sale and go below the map pricing it still slacks
