I am seeing many people saying that their domain is a premium Domain in a website/domain Auction listing. What they exactly mean by saying premium domain? Whether the domain registers will be having separate category/price for premium domain, or just the domain/website owners calling their site as premium domain if the domain name looks good? Recently I had registered a domain with exact matching name of Olympic hosting city name within few minutes of the announcement of the city as Olympic hosting city. So, I thought it will be treated as premium domain, and I thought I can sell it for good price. And, I started an Auction for selling this site. Till now, no one bought this site even when I set very low BIN price, and number of bids also very low. So, I would like to know whether my expectation about this domain sales is wrong, or my way of promoting/selling this site/domain is not good enough to get the appropriate benefit?
I believe a "premium" domain may be used in cases it should not be. Its loosely a domain of good or great value. For example.. the search phrase "peanutbutter" roughly receives 2,240,000 monthly searches according to adwords keyword tool. Thats a decent amount of searches I guess.. so having the domain: peanutbutter.com may be considered a premium domain. In most cases i would imagine the domain would have to contain highly searched keywords is all. I'm no domain expert but thats my intake on the subject. I suppose only your potential buyers can create imagination if your domain name premium one or not...
