What is PR?

I saw a post about someone asking to get a PR 8 or 9. What is PR 3 PR 4 PR 8, 9 ect?

And how do you get good ones?

dont' worry to much about it as whats more important is the traffic you get to your site. You could have a high page rank with not that much traffic to your site.
