What is PPC? How do I start?

Ok, I am here trying to get my feet wet, which, by the way, with the temperature the way it is, may make me sick.

Anyway, I started a post underneath another listing about "How do I make $10 today," because, I am just looking for a tangible "something" to help me get started. I don't need the $10 physically, but, I need the psychological "rush" of having made money to propel me to make much more.

Anyway, someone mentioned PPC to me, but, as far as I'd be concerned, that would be a Pocket PC. Now, I know that it means Pay Per Click, but, beyond that, I have no clue. Apparently, according to my understanding, I can work some formula, and that formula, involving PPC, will equal extremely small amounts of money.

Am I right? If so, how do I start?

    Thanks.

    Jeremy

Simply, Pay Per Click advertising is a method of advertising your product, or an affiliate product on search engines such as Google, Yahoo etc.

If you do a search for anything on Google you will see on the right hand side of each page a certain number of small advertisements called "Sponsored Links". These are the Pay Per Click Advertisements that advertisers add to Google through their Adwords program. Basically it's a quick way to get your product seen by hundreds of readers very quickly, rather than waiting for articles on your site making it to the front pages of any search engines.
Obviously there is a cost in this form of advertising and it's a combination of good ad copy, careful keyword selection and a good product to get the right conversion rates for your advertisements.

PPC advertising is really a numbers game. If you're selling an affiliate product that say gives you $25 commission, and your advert converts to one sale every 100 clicks, then if you were paying $1 for your keywords it would cost you $100 to make $25. Not a very good return I hear you say. Correct! But if by careful keyword research you can get you keyword price down to $0.10 then it's going to cost you $10 to make $25 i.e $15 profit. Then it's just a case of ramping up your outlay to get your desired weekly/monthly return.

Sounds easy? It is, providing you have a good product in an active niche, the right keywords and killer ad copy. Therein lies the secret....

You can find out more about PPC on my blog (Next to my name at the top of this reply.)

    Good Luck!
