Hi all, I was wondering if I'd be able to get some feedback as to what our website (http://www.seewhosells.com) is doing wrong. It's only recently been released and despite some marketing efforts is still receiving a very limit number of hits per day. We have put a lot of time and effort into the design and implementation while communicating with a lot of large suppliers and retailers throughout the USA. We are now at the point where we need to start receiving some return on our investment. In your opinions, why would someone want to visit the site? Why would someone NOT want to visit it? Why would someone not want to return? Criticism, constructive or otherwise, would be much appreciated
My suggestion would be to do some online marketing as this is a new website. Have you submitted your website to some reputable online directories? Check the quality of the websites that are linked to you. If they are bad in the eyes of the search engines, it will hurt your ranking. I also noticed that your Google Page Rank was 0. This would be affecting your ranking as well.
How can somebody visit your website if they do not know about it , you need to do some SEO for your website in order to appear in search engines so that people find you
I know the suggestion of "just do some SEO", but it's not exactly that simple. The whole site was designed from the ground up with Smart URLs and Image ALT tags in mind. I've been on a crusade to get some quality back links but most of the people willing to participate either have trashy, unprofessional looking sites, or are just link farms that are unrelated to our content.
If you have spent a lot of time and money on the setup, wouldn't it make sense to spend time and money on the marketing too? You should be at least looking at doing some PR and SEO work to promote the website. Also, what about joint marketing with the companies who are supplying you? If you have at least a little cash, then I would suggest doing some basic pay per click, some social marketing and at least a little direct marketing. Take it from an old hand, you need to focus on why your next door neighbour is not buying from you, and why he/she might by from you. Go on.... go next door to whomever they are and ask them.
Thanks. We do currently have PPC campaigns running, in categories with relatively low competition and high traffic, yet the hits are only trickling in. As far as PR goes, considering our major "selling point" is still in development that will separate us from other price comparison websites, there isn't really anything "newsworthy" about our site at the moment that would warrant inclusion in any kind of media publication as far as I can tell
you need an online marketing, basic seo and tell your friends to visit the site and also tell them to let their friends know about the site.word of mouth advertising.
