OK, this is somewhat a general question, but still related to SEO... While I realize that I have only been involved a small fraction of time as 99% of the people on this forum, but what I have read time (on this forum and soo many resources) time and time again makes it seem like so many areas are saturated, including: blogs, forums, directories, etc. I realize that the directories are good for backlinks and improving the rankings, but I wonder if people are actually using them. With millions and millions of blogs, Gartner is predicting a decrease eventually as people become bored with them. And forums are hard to get the participation to make it useful. I will continue to pursue all of those things, but I wanted to throw the question out there for all of those on the cutting edge... what is the NEXT NEW thing approaching? Is natural search always going to be important or is everything eventually going to be PPC? Obviously I am not looking for any specific answer, just wondering if anbody has any thoughts on the subject so I can start planning
in retro to (directories are good for back links and improving the rankings, but I wonder if people are actually using them.) (of course it is what we need to do as a seo from home) in order to make the best of online presentation you are missing a few items on your list of seo tactics you need to use social book marking sites to increase your page rank as well as blog daily" lol" ans use stumble too lol"
Thanks Aaron. Yes, I definitely didn't mean that list included everything. Just trying to see what the thoughts were. So, do you think that the Social Bookmarking trend is going to continue to grow or will it peak and decline at some point?
I have been big into relevance and more recently end user data (session and perfomance data) in both the organic and PPC side of things with Google.... looking for relevance and tracking user data is of interest... I am also looking a bunch at Universal Search and Personalized Search aspects ( and Local stuff as well)..... those are good areas to bone up on.... As for the social media this is a good article from theLisa - Getting qualified traffic Theres my 2c
SEO or SEO 2.0 ...this will be an ongoing challange. SEO will last forever, will never go down as long as google will stay online.
Google?? The only thing that Google has done as far as SEO is creating the little green meter to me for the hooplah that you hear about mostly in forums and such!! I have to say that i like the green meter myself but if it was gone, So What!! Life can't be according to Google!! Google , Smoogle!! The fact of the matter is that many of our clients claim to get more traffic from MSN and Yahoo!! I agree with that as well! Google is the biggest but they are already losing popularity in other countries and belive me, if Google went away tomorrow, the Internet will still keep getting HUGE and the SEO business as well!! My statement to Google is: Greed Will In Prison Us All!!
SMO (Social media optimization) is one of the newest stuffs nowadays... Its generating publicity through social media, online communities and community websites. Methods of SMO include adding RSS feeds, adding a "Digg This" button, blogging and incorporating third party community functionalities like Flickr photo slides and galleries or YouTube videos. According to Wiki... lolz
I totally agree as we are getting heavy in Socials and they work excellent, and I totally agree with the D..g Box as well!! Socials are the best thing out in my opinion and 99.9% of them are free to join and submit your stories and/or sites in!!
lol" another improtant seo social structure to follow is using Delicious and Tecnorati trust me they work
Natural search will, definitely, always be important. PPC is getting more and more competitive and therefore more and more pricey for popular terms, and it can easily escalate into 'unaffordable' for most. As long as Google holds 80%+ of the search market, the 'next' steps for SEO are the same steps...do what makes Google happy. But Yahoo and MSN are both doing things (like their versions of the Google webmaster tools) which are worth paying attention to. If there's something you can do to double your traffic from Yahoo, it may only be a fraction of your Google traffic, but it's still more traffic - so keep up on what ALL the engines are doing and what they want. And looking down the road... we are within a couple years - MAX - of mobile broadband reaching critical mass. When a majority of internet users have megabit-speed access on their ipods or phones or PSPs, your sites had better be optimized for mobile search and display. That's my 2 cents.
Chorizo's definitely right with mobile search. I would also suggest that video/video marketing is still in its early stages and combining it with things like social sites and blogs will be pretty important to all of us down the road. We all know Podcasts, but video-blogs (I'm trademarking the phrase vBlog (tm) right now! ) are something I think will be coming down the pike soon.
I am also getting in big with the socials and I own a social bookmark site myself (3 Of Them) they are powerful and will rule the internet! I hope we all do enough to not lose rank when google changes the way they index websites!
It will be definitely PPC and SEM in replacement to just simple SEO as the competition becomes stiff these days. Although of course, SEO has its parts and will not disappear from my list.
Well, pretty soon there'll be as many social sites as directories and they will also start to decline but the question was what's the next thing on the horizon ... unfortunately I can't see that far
First to market usually wins, and we only truly need one social networking site....just like in life we lose friends as we grow and mature which is a prime indicator that the "social" market will collapse and adjust accordingly as do most 'fad' businesses. ==================================================================================== I'll bet $100,000.00 that Google does not leave the organic search results business for the next 2 decades or 20 years. Why? It's where they display Adwords Ads, which earn them billions of dollars and a stock price of $600.00 per share. Google & SEO are going nowhere anytime soon!!! Wake up and smell the $$$$$$$$$$
Nice above I mean really Google has more money then most online" and they are buying out web companies left and right so thats a really good observation. Social book marks are key" Advice - ""stay away from myspace.com""
OK, I had already been looking more and more into using Social Bookmarking to help in SEO and I have been checking out DIGG, STUMBLE, etc. But is there one that is really standing out? Not necessarily by the number of users, but everything from ease of use to innovation. Second question is why isn't Google using the Social Bookmarking. Which one of these companies will they buy? LOL Again, just asking for opinions to help think about what might come in the future. I have really enjoyed reading all the posts! Thanks!
Google does not rely on Social Bookmarking since it can be manipulated easily. Google has its own social bookmarking service I blogged about it here. Google Share And here is my GoogleShare so far http://www.google.com/s2/sharing/stuff?user=117653807772548629648&aoff=true
