from the BBC: And we just thought he was bad! I'm sure we all know people like this. But are they sick? 3 ticks means yes apparantly.
Amazingly similar to the test at http://www.sba.gov/starting_business/startup/entrepreneurialtest.html Hmm.. Either narcissistic or ready to start a small business? HMMMMMM...
Dave, only you believe they're special, require admiration and are envious. Most of the web citizenry are just getting on with getting on.
Personality "Disorders" are distortions of personality, traits that are either maginified or underdeveloped. Unfortunately, they got medicalised. Personality disorder is no more an illness than having a big hooter, IMO. It may be distressing, and we may be able to do something about it, but that doesn't make it an illness. I tend to view personality disorder as being more akin to a developmental disorder in which, for whatever reason, a particular aspect of personality doesn't mature normally within the normal course of development. But that just happened to be a useful model that enabled me to work with these people for 8 years and remain compassionate about their difficulties If you take any group of people recognised in their field as achievers, a disproportionately high number will fall into one personality disorder classification or another.
