So let me start by saying, I'm a developer - with very little knowledge about SEO&Marketing, but I'm trying to figure out how to proceed my side-project. 1½ year ago, i created a internal site (in my free time) for my old work, that gathers expired (mostly nordic) domains - and fetcher relevant SEO-data. But around 6 months ago i got a new job - so my site was mostly inactive except for personal usage. A couple of months ago, i decided for fun to remove the password, and let everybody have access to it. I quickly saw a couple of visitors, and people seems to like/use it (Google Console says avg. time spend on site is like 11-12 min - when coming from google searches). So i decide to overhaul the whole site, improve performance, move it to a .com domain, and add some more functionality - so https://thedomainrobot.com was born. But I'm now at a point, where i cant find any more stuff to code - so I figured, I should working on something i have been trying to avoid - SEO&Marketing. But I'm totally lost, where should i start? what should i do? do i need to throw in some money to give it a boost? My best idea so far is working on some domain related blog posts - but is that enough?
In this competitive world you can get good ranking and traffic either you are serving very informative and unique information to world or you are updating website, managing marketing work very carefully. As we are seeing that you have not enough ideas of SEO because there are some on page issue according to our first view. You need to fix them to get more exposure. There are many ways and blog posting is on of those ... Create blog, interlink your website, build high quality backlinks by guest posting, content marketing and some advanced techiniques like HARO, Broaken link building, Skyscrapers etc.. In your niche markets you can get many options to get high quality backlinks. And because its a bit competitive niche so if you want to hire any one for promotion then budget will be a bit high to get good ranking and traffic online quickly.
So what would you say i should focus on? and what is a "a big high" budget if i wanted to hire somebody?
You should focus on on page optimization ... You can add blog / news section and post unique contents according to your keywords ..... It would help you more to get additional related traffic and unique contents always attract search engine's attention. As i told you that niche market is a bit competitive and so price can vary between atleast $750 to $1000+ per month for good and guaranteed result within few months. If you have any other questions then feel free to reply here or message me. Thanks
Just for example Your home page title is "More than 100000 expired domains - TheDomainRobot". According to me its not in good format, You should use like "100000+ Expired Domains List - TheDomainRobot". Title is place where you can use your main keywords. In H1 use Expired Domains List ..... For more points we need to audit / analyze your complete website. Thanks
There isn't a straightforward answer on this, SEO is complex task that require a lot of activities and consistency. It is not one time activity, but continues monotone and mostly manual process. You can start with some link building, fix your meta, improve internal navigation and keep publishing fresh content.
I understand that their is alot of things i could do - but the problem is, i need to know what to look at before i can fix it - its hard to look for something when you don't know what you are looking for. Can you explain what you mean by "Meta" & "Improve internal navigation"?
Meta data - meta titles, descriptions and keywords. By improving internal navigation, I mean to cross link relevant content.
Hey there! It sounds like you've been doing some awesome work on your site. As someone who's been there, I understand how overwhelming SEO can seem at first. But here's the thing - don't let the technical stuff scare you off. Sure, there are a lot of technical things you can do to improve SEO, but the most important thing right now, especially for a site like yours, is to focus on creating great content. Remember, content is king. If you have valuable content that answers your audience's questions, you're already ahead of the game. When it comes to handling the technical part of SEO, there are platforms out there that can make your life a lot easier. WordPress is a good example. It's user-friendly, and with plugins like "Rank Math", you can take care of most of the SEO basics like meta titles and descriptions, readability checks, and even suggestions for internal linking. Another good option is Ghost CMS, which has built-in SEO tools to help your site rank better in search results. So, my advice is to find a platform that does a lot of the heavy lifting for you and focus your energy on creating content that is helpful, informative, and engaging. You can start writing about topics that are relevant to your audience. For example, you can write about the benefits of expired domains, how to choose the right domain, and so on. Remember, SEO is not a one-time task. It's a continuous process. But as long as you're creating high-quality content consistently and following basic SEO practices, you're on the right path. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions! Good luck!
I think you're going to have a hard time in the current space you're in. The biggest names in domains all provide these kind of names. From just about every hosting company, business name generator, etc. The price point of these basic domains are like $10-$15. The only way I'd get into the domain business is by offering aged domains with some backlinks/authority. The price point would also be much higher. Checkout what serp.domains and odys.global are doing.
Thank you for your reply, my site is already build on WordPress & using Rank math! - so I think I'm mostly "good" on all the very basic stuff. But i suspect you are right, I'm just trying to find ANYTHING i can improve before i have to do the dreaded task... of writing content . I'm not offering hosting nor domains - I'm simply showing domains that have been dropped recently, together with all related SEO information (Authority, backlinkgs, trust flow, citation flow... and so on) - It's a free service, I'm not looking to make money from it
You are using affiliate links there to earn comission ...... Dont say that you dont want to make money from your site. You changed your title according to suggestion but still there is issue 100000+ expired domains . TheDomainRobot Remove bullet as seperator and add dash and capitalize first character of each keyword in title ... and if possible for you add list because your main key phrase is expired domains list. So title should be like below. 100000+ Expired Domains List - TheDomainRobot
I will change the titles, thanks . I stand by what i wrote, I'm not looking to make money from the site - every function on the site is free for everybody, and will stay that way. Do i have affliate links? yes, i do - but people's ability to use the site, is not bound by having to use the links. If people wanna support the very expensive SEO-data&Hosting (that i offer for free) - great - if not, no problems they can still use the site .
Another tip, if you are incorporating affiliate links to your website, it's crucial that you create a "Advertising Disclosure" page. Nowadays people want transparency, and some affiliates (such as amazon) require it. It's important to avoid the common pitfall of initiating a website, configuring it, but failing to consistently deliver quality content. This process can be challenging, but it's vital to persist. Setting a timetable, such as producing a fresh article weekly, can be a good starting point. With the help of tools like ChatGPT, this task has become more manageable nowadays. Best of luck in your endeavors!
