What is more significant - PageRank or Alexa?

My Alexa is now around 286,000. ? Well, it seems the consensus that PR is by far more important!! I think a PR of 3 is okay, then?? Thanks for all the comments!

 

PR gives your site more importance, thus higher ranking in SERP, thus more traffic, thus better alexa rank

 

For me Google ranking and quality traffic is best for site.

 

Page Rank is more important for me.

 

Honestly, neither are important.

PageRank is dead. Notice how it's been removed from Google Webmaster Tools and how its importance in SERPs is rather irrelevant and is falling. As for Alexa, anything inside the top 250k is very good, but it only gets accurate when you're really high up. If you can prove you have traffic (via. Awstats, Webalizer, Analytics, etc.), and make a strong enough revenue, then who cares?

 

Ok I don't get why most people tell PR is more important. Surely if you manipulate alexa ranking then it loses part of its value. But at least alexa tries to measure how much actual visitors you get to the site. PR doesn't tell you how much actual traffic you get because it depends on many other things too. But both are just methods of measurement, not actual means of increasing traffic. And I think amount of traffic is most important thing, and quality of traffic of course. Besides google is not the only way to get traffic to site.

We've been telling people for a long time that they shouldn't focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it's the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true.

 

I like Alexa rank since it drops by a few thousands every day. Its nice to see a less rank in Alexa when you wake up.
But PR never changes(its still 0 for me) but its far more important than alexa.

As some one said Alexa is for fun and PR is for serious traffic.

 

yep Alexa is just there to complement you but Google's the one that tells you how good you rely are

 

I think Google page rank is most important for any sites reputation so just try to gain more google PR then to Alexa........

Alexa rank will differs day by day. alexa rank is calculated by daily visitors.. page rank show quality of your website

 

for me, Page Rank should be good, if you have good quality back links, then you'll have good page rank and back links with alexa rank

 

Neither or really matter in today's webmaster world.
If you worry about these two systems, then you'll worry so much it'll turn your hair gray!

 

I guess pagerank is more significant than alexa. Alexa ranking can be easily manipulated till the 200,000 rank, however pagerank cannot be manipulated by any way, other than fake it. But you can easily check in many sites if the pagerank is genuine. This is the only reason, I will go with pagerank, because it has to be earned by doing hard work in SEO and lots of other things

PR is more important as Google gives more preference to it as compared to Alexa.

 

Neither the Page Rank nor the Alexa ranking matters much, as I have seen websites with low Page Rank rank higher in Google SERP then websites with high Page Rank of PR 3 and PR 4. When it comes to Alexa ranking, even I have come across websites who has Alexa as low as 150000 but even such websites some times have low traffic than websites with Alexa rank more than 500000. What matters is the business and leads.
