What is missing in Google Analytics

    Hi,

I am looking for anwsers on what is missing in existing statistic tools, since we are building a behavioral testing/targeting and analytic tool. So I am not interested in what Google Analytics can do, I am looking what this tool cannot do for you and maybe in combination with Google Website Optimizer.

This will help me extend our own tool. So if your really missing something let me know. Love to get feedback!

google analytics shows aggregate statistics among all users. What it does not allow to do is to track the path of any particular user through your site, i.e. what links user clicked and when

the overlay tool on it is very crude - a proper heat tracker like crazyegg's would be a very good addition

atxsurf, I like that. I like a spy function to see live what is happening on the site, what are they doing, goals reached, funnels entered, countries, keywords etc. And also a option to zoom in on user: see history etc.

magda yep that on is also definitely on the list, clickmaps, mouse move maps, and both aggregated over time to see an overview in timeframe x.

I know there is a hack for showing keyword ranking in analytics which I have set up a profile for and applied all those filters and it shows me on what page my keywords were shown in the serps.

For everyone who does not know how to do that, you can find a detailed instruction here: http://www.damongudaitis.com/analytics/serp-report-google-analytics.html
(Thanks to Damon Gudaitis and Yoast!)

But what I really would like to see, is the page and the position of my keywords on that page, e.g. Page 2 - Position 7.
Kind of similar to the SEO Rank Checker for Firefox. It would allow to see the changes of any serp positions better in a really tight time frame.

    Cheers

That is a nice idea verdecove. But does Google not have a max. amount of requests for queries to check these keywords for thousands of sites? How would that be solved?

LOL, I'm not the tecnical guy here who wants to develop a software better than Google Analytics is. I replied only on your request of forum members to tell you what they would like to have included that Analytics does not offer.
But I would think it should technically be possible to show also the rank position on the page and not just the page number. But like I said, 'm not that technical skilled that I could tell you how that could be done.

    Cheers

Let me know please when it is ready to go.
Good luck and lots of success programming such a tool. I'm sure the demand for it will be there since Analytics does not cover everyone's wish list. ;)

How about adding some user specific parameter such as the what exactly the user has been looking out for on our site. I m new to analytics started learning it self, but i think compared to google, other tools such as Clicky shows the bounce rate less compared to what Google Shows you.

Heres a simple one. When choosing a time segment, and then comparing it to another (comparing this months traffic with the same month last year), for some reason you cannot choose multiple segments (non-paid search, referral, direct). This would be very helpful.
