Hi Chrisj, Facebook checks some pages and profiles in order to avoid fake profiles or pages. Someone infact could open a new profile pretending to be some one else, in order to defame or make fraudulent activity. When a page or a profile is verified you can see a badge blu on that page or profile. Usually facebook checks famous people profiles...or major company pages.
Facebook verification indicates that this page is genuine and not fake...Even if your page is legit only few category's in Facebook can have blue badge, mostly celebrates, sport person, actors, etc and major incorporated company's.
