What is meant by cloaking? Is it helpful for a site?

I just wanted to know what is meant by cloaking and is it helpful for a site to get rankings or not?

Cloaking means using ways (java scripts etc.) to show one thing to the visitors and totally other thing to search engines.

It's not helpful, but black hat and is totally fucked up, will get you penalized as a consequence.

 

It is a technique to hide the content of a site as visible to a normal visitor from the search engine spider mainly to trick it into believing that the site is belonging to a good and acceptable niche.

hello cloaking is a black hat techniques so if you use this trick it will be harm full of your website so don't use this..

 

Google states that cloaking is "a website that returns altered webpages to search engines crawling the site". This basically means that a human would see different content than a GoogleBot or other search engine robot would see when looking at the site. Usually cloaking is used to improve rankings by misleading the robot into thinking the content is different than it actually is.

Alot of the time, search engines will remove and sometimes blacklist a site if they find out you are cloaking. They do it because cloaking is intended to fool the search engines programming on whether to rank the page high or low on the engine. If the page is different when a human views it rather than when the bot views it, the search engine fails to serve its purpose so they ban sites that cloak.

So all in all, I would say cloaking will just get you in trouble. Its better if you just develop a fascinating website with amazing content and improve your rankings yourself. I've heard cloaking can be really bad simply because it is a black hat technique. An affiliate marketer/guru however continues to recommend the technique. I haven't tried it yet and I don't think I ever will
