ASO is App store optimization, it is used to make your application stand out of the crowd. In on page you have to give it appropriate title, description and keyword. You need to keep a close look on the proximity of the keyword in description. And in the off page same link building has been done by writing blogs, articles, directories etc....... ASO is almost same as Website SEO....
As John said Off-page ASO is same as normal SEO. For mobile applications you have to update the webpages to fit properly with smart phone format.
