What is the main differences between free hosted blog and self hosted blog? I have my own blog on blogspot.com, bloggercom. Which types of blog are they? How can i make a self hosted blog? Is that free or it may cost?
Hey Mona, Your current blogs are "free hosted blogs", which you ultimately have no control over...especially control over your SEO. To "OWN" your blog it needs to be self hosted; ie, you need to secure hosting with say HostGator or GoDaddy. 1. Buy your domain name 2. Buy hosting 3. Download a wordpress platform from your new hosting account 4. On your admin panel, you'll be able to import all of the content from your currently "free hosted" blogs. Much luck to you!
What you have is a free hosted blog. Self hosted blogs refer to those blogs wherein you buy space to store your blog. It is not free and costs money.
Self-hosted blogs mean you paid for the services of a webhost (like Hostgator) and have your blog hosted through them. If you have your blogs through domain.blogspot.com or domain.blogger.com, these are free hosted blogs.
You are using free blog services .If you buy any domain name and hosting services and install blog scripts to that ,those type of blogs called self hosted blog
Yes a self hosted blog is one you have control over. You own the domain name, you pay for hosting somewhere and you (with help of your host in some situatons) manage the blog software, etc. A fully managed VPS server with wordpress runs this perfectly. Plus your VPS gives you room for other sites to generate traffic to your blog. Getting a managed host allows you to focus on your blog and not having to learn servers. A small monthly budget is all that is needed until you grow a bunch and then you should be making some money via the blog setup.
On self-hosted blog you have full control and access you can do anything including taking backups and installing third parties plugins.
