If you have any business then you can list it in google/yahoo.. local business.. benefit is that when someone will search for a related service/product and then your site may appear in local listing.

Hello Friend, I want to tell you that local listing means for example if you target your website in .com then you submit your directory , article in .com sites and if you target your area uk, then you will submit in UK directory and you will get ranking on your keywords in .uk.
