What is linking or backlinking?

I started a new and my first website last month and I wanna drive traffic to my site......when I was searching for how to drive traffic I came across the word called linking and backlining...can somebody please explain what exactly it is and how it can help me drive more traffic to my site

Backlinks are links pointing in to your site. So another site somewhere has linked to your site.

The converse of this is linking, linking out to other sites.

Backlinks can drive direct traffic from the sites linking to you. It also helps improve your search engine rankings. The more backlinks you have, the more trust your site will get.

This is a very very broad definition. Try running some google searches for the benefits of backlinks and youll find atonne of info.

Do a google search, read in this forum and others, and start getting backlinks. This is very very important if you want to rank well.

 

Backlinks are the links from an external website that point to the website being optimised. They are also known as inbound links.

I have noticed in this forum that many users have linked back to their own website.....so this is also considered as backlinking and can help in getting up on search engine rankings?

Try to search at Link Development category of this forum...there's a lot of things that you'll learn there about link building..

 

Is your site already optimized. Optimized each page first for your targeted keywords and then start link building.
