What is link juice and how it contributes to SEO

Well, this is my first article and I will share something you know but still are not sure what it means.
What is link juice? No it is not about a recipe!
Wait! Wondering what does it mean?
Link juice is a power that one link can send to another webpage. Link can be external or internal.

It is difficult to explain this concept without an example. Therefore I will start with the example right away.

Before reading this article further, it is important to know what back links are and how they affect your website’s ranking.

While generating backlinks, quality is more important than the quantity. Relevant link coming from high authority domain is one of the important elements in measuring Link Juice. This ‘quality of backlink’ is measured in terms of ‘link juice’. Higher link juice means higher quality backlinks.

Suppose that you have a food recipe or a cookery website. You write blogs for your readers. Now, as a website in food sector, it needs backlinks from the similar sectors like Well-known Restaurants, recipe book e-store, and other similar blogs.

Case 1: One of the well-known restaurants prepares a new dish using a recipe closely related to your recipe. They put this new dish on their website to let people know about it. On the same page, they also link to your web page which includes that recipe.

Case 2: An equally well-known utensil manufacturing company links to your website on their website for the same recipe. (Yes, it sounds very irrelevant and that is the reason why I have taken it as an example!) This generates another backlink for you. Note that ‘Well-known’ is important phrase here since it denotes the domains with same level of authority.

In the case 1 your webpage receives a back link from a domain which is more relevant than case 2. Therefore Link Juice in 1st case would be much higher. This ensures that the readers get relevant content in the search engine results page.

Not only website relevancy but also webpage relevancy is important in calculating Link Juice.

Position of back link on the web page also matters. Link in the middle of the post passes more Link Juice than the link at the bottom of a post.

Great share, but you forget to tell about the internal links which pass the same values like backlinks. We need to give importance to the internal links as like building backlinks.

I can see many websites ranking in the top position because of the proper internal linking structure. Of course we need to have more relevant content in our website to create better structure.

 

Link Juice is your website Energy Drink...Ha Ha. It's a count of backlinks (external & internal) to a page which boosts the ranking of that page in Google organic SERP. Link Juice increases the authority of a page thereby increasing the PAGE RANK.

The more links the more juice...the more juice the higher the PR.
