writing an exceptional post that makes people blog about them or link to it is called as the link bait process.
Link baiting is the process in which the content you have placed on a certain webpage is interesting enough or worthy enough for somebody to want to link to it.
No - not at all. It's writing a very interesting article that people love and want to share with. They go back to their blogs or wherever and tell everyone that they should see this article that they just read - then they leave the link back to the article. That's basically what the internet is all about. Sharing knowledge.
If your write very interesting articles and posts a lot of people will link to your site, so that is what they call link bait.
A creative way of getting links from catching people's attention and for me a very good way of generating traffic.
You can't get anymore white hat than "link baiting." It's exactly the kind of thing Google wants webmasters to do. Make content that's so good that people link to you because they like your content. It's the entire basis that formed the original idea that links are a good way of telling which pages are most important. In a perfect world, this all any of us would be doing. Everything else is essentially BS. (Of course this is anything but a perfect world and I take part in far more than my share of BS.)
I agree, in fact you could say that link baiting is in fact the Holy Grail and Google perfect way to obtain your back links. No one can ever cast a shadow of doubt about your links or your ethics if you obtain your links in such a fashion. In fact you could walk through the land, with your head held high and know that you are truly doing the work Google wants you to do. No BS intended
Link baiting is a link building strategy which entice visitors/readers to link to source of a article topic, useful widgets and etc.
ohh boy this is a fairytale... when it happens it will never happen often enough to justify the time you spent writing the amazing article... the max number of people who will ever link to you for content is about 5 and that you can create by yourself in under 15 minutes if you know what you're doing.... bottom line it's a myth because there is no profit to it. It won't solve your backlink building nor make you a single penny more in revenue than if you have a post assembled around high paying keywords...
I disagree. Certainly you can get a higher quantity of links with other methods (such as article distribution which is my favorite) but the QUALITY of links you can get through link baiting is another thing. Since I started really concentrating on good content with my main blog site, I've had more and more quality links (people have even started linking to my site on Wikipedia) from the type of sites that you can't get links from through article writing or buying links or whatever. These are links from real sites that people actually read. And I really think that helps in Google's eyes. This site has been climbing up the search rankings ... Now, don't get me wrong. I don't rely entirely on this. I also do a ton of article distribution and a little bit of blog commenting and forum sigs and other such strategies but I think spending time on good content for your sites really can pay off in the long run.
Link Bait is a fancy way of referring to "catchy or controversial" headlines that draw readers in or make them click.
