Keyword density is what % of the total number of words is your keyword. Example: "Today I wrote article article article" (not good one but what the heck) - there are total of 6 words, 3 of them are article (our keyword) so 50% keyword density. That is a great description. I have always followed that same rule of % limit on page as well as any article submissions.
