What is it about this site?

    What is it about this site which brings it to the top of the google lists constantly? No updates in 6 years, nothing really revelational about it. Yet it stays pegged to the top...

    How?!?!?!?

    I'm not nescessarily worried about taking #1 from him - we cover different things - I have a small website with some dolphins information, while he has dolphin poetry.

    But from a shear SEO educational perspective, what is it that has him at tops?

    well for example the search "dolphins" he ranks No. 4. - No. 5 has the same page rank but less text and only mentions the word "dolphin" once on the page, even though it's in a h1 it loses to No.4 because it have three occurences of the word dolphin (3). Besides that, No. 4 may actaully have a better PR because the toolbar only shows the whole numbers, leaving out decimals.

    No.6 is probably penalized bacause of all the nasty hidden text (actually I'm surprised it's not all together dropped from the SERP), or... again it could have a PR5 leaning towards P4 as opposed to No. 3 leaning towards PR6.

    and so on...

    You don't rank high because you are very new (since your PR shows up as 0)
