So what are the points i should ask him so i will know that he knows marketing. If u can try to list the points. Thank you.
Marketing is the art of connecting sellers and buyers. It is very broad, and includes human psychology, advertsing techniques, trend analysis, demographics, etc... Internet marketing uses the same concepts, but uses tools unique to selling on the web, ie: seo, traffic sourcing, lowering bounce rate, content development, etc. Good luck finding someone who can do marketing. My experience is that most people who claim to know marketing really do not. The real marketeers tend not to share their knowledge....there are exceptions of course.

Well, first off, what is it that you want? A lot of traffic, or just enough to see X amount of sales? If it is a lot of traffic, follow these points: - Ask him how many visitors he gets monthly. Many blowhards, like John Reese, Frank Kern and others like these morons advocate how to get a lot of traffic, but they don't have that much traffic at their own sites! Use compete.com to see roughly how much traffic a site gets. It is not accurate, of course, but it can give you an idea. - Ask him what he thinks of such "methods" as Twitter, signatures, and, social networks. If he says that these are good methods, he doesn't not know what he is talking about. They are the bottom of the barrel. That question by itself may be enough to have you not hiring him. - Ask to see some of his ideas. This is common practice, and a legitimate marketer/advertiser will do this. I do this on my site. I give free tips, ideas for all to read. I want potential customers to know that I know what I am talking about. - If he says he knows all about seo, ask to see all of the sites he has put on page 1. Or, 2, even. If he has 1 or 2 sites listed high, that still isn't enough proof. - Ask him if free methods are a great way to start off in getting consitent good traffic. If he says yes, he does not know what he is talking about. Getting traffic is mainly about advertising. One should know more about how to be a good advertiser. He should tell you this. These points should be enough to go on.

So don't just stand there and wait for the information being delivered to you, but go out and seek that information. Enlighten yourself and the money will come.
