Yeah, but if people type "googlecom" on accident, then IE automatically goes to googlecom.com, so there would be a lot of traffic to it.

That's the problem is that there are so many businesses online that how do you know that when you buy a domain, it is not using someone else copywrite words in it.

It will be horrible if you buy a domain and have it for a year and then get your site very popular and then you have to give the domain to change the domain name because of the other business wanting it or asking you to take the site down or something.

I think that if you purchased a domain in good faith you will be okay...
You also will not be prosecuted ex post facto...

For example:
AOL-B.COM - Atkin Olshin Lawson-Bell Architects shouldn't have any problems.

I think it is only when you are deliberately trying to slander, capitalize from, or show some connection with an established trademark that you can be prosecuted...

 

No, I think they intended to make use of AOLs fame. why put a hyphen and not have aolb.com

The dash is in the name, and maybe aolb.com was already taken.

I remember in '97 I was advising my company on lots in Internet things and we were looking for HRA-anything for HR and Associates, I recommended www.hra.as which was available but for some reason the VP didn't go for it.. you can find them now at www.hrandassociates.com
