What is Googlebombs???

I was recently going through a blog written by Matt Cutt where he uses the "Googlebomb" in his blog.

Could anyone please give me an idea as to wht exactly is "Googlebomb" all about???

Nope...it's a normal SEO technique. Do a search for "click here" in Google, and the first thing that comes up Adobe Acrobat Reader. Why? Coz on countless sites, ppl say "you'll need Adobe Acrobat, so click here to get it".

 

so you read Matt's blog but don't know how to use google to search for googlebomb.
You built a website for a company that specializes in seo and website design and you don't know what a googlebomb and "black head" is.
and now you have posted enough to get a sig and you put a link to this post in it. none of this makes sense to me

Here's a writeup on Google Bowling which is related to Google Bombing and includes a definition of the later.

 

A Google Bomb can be one of two things.
It refers to a new military technology of dropping computers with Google OS over enemy territory. The enemy will then be tied down, trying to figure out how to operate the damn thing and either get totally frustrated and kill each other or they are still occupied and can easily be captured. This is the so called Whitehat Googlebomb.
The second thing refers to a home made device that insurgents (Google calls them Blackhats) drop at the Googleplex in Mountain View. It is sort of a Pinata filled with party favorites. It will be hidden and upon detonation shower you with money (Google money that is)

Some people will try to tell you that a Googlebomb has something to do with placing many links with some funny unrelated anchor text to some website, but that isn't really a bomb now is it?

 

Could this be how they stopped GoogleBombs ?

It started with something a bud mentioned today and I went and did a little homework...

 

Because of the way that Google's algorithm works, a page will be rank higher if a whole bunch of sites that link back to that page use the same anchor text.

So for example everyone agrees to link to a specific page using "You are the best" as the anchor text with the goal that Google's algorithim put's that page #1 when folks enter "You are the best" as a search term.

Famous google bombs include when a group of liberal Anti-Bush people used "Miserable Failure" to link to George W. Bush's biography #1 ib Google. Then the conservatives did the same to the other side shifting the term "Miserable Failure" to Jimmy Carter, Hiliary Clinton, and Micahel Moore.

jack ya i know being in the online marketing n seo field i shld not asking abt "Google Bombing" but u kno wht in seo even our big daddy keeps introducing new new techniques n terms n it is very necesaary for us so as to keep ourselves updated.

more so u kno wht... may b wht Google feels is a Whiet Hat technique 2day it might b claiming as to tak d same thing 2morrow as the black hat technique n might ban ur site for the same reason... thts y i wld lik to keep myself updated 4 d same in every possible manner...

GoogleBombs are DEAD! Simply read that and follow the links etc.. all of the answers are there ( all about GoogleBombs for ya)
