What is Google Sitemaps?

    I know you hear this question a lot, but what is it really? Is there a beginner explanation for this? Or, where can I go to learn about sitemaps?

    A Google sitemap is a basic XML style sitemap, sort of like a blog feed. It's purpose is to make a simplified way for search engines to index all the pages of your website. You can take a peek at what one of mine looks like here:

    A sitemap is a file that contains a collection of URLs for a particular domain. For SEO purposes, it allows all of your URLs to be found at the same time.

    XML is a 'structured language' for defining data. XML describes what markers to add around certain bits of information to help their relationship to be understood no matter what is reading that XML. stuff like <hair>blonde</hair> or <url>http://www.example.com/</url>

    An XML Sitemap is a certain way of typing up a list of URLs that allow the search engines to view a complete 'snapshot' of your website.

    It's a file that can help search engine find all your pages and index them. You can try any online sitemap creator and make yours.

    Google sitemap,sometimes it is called xml sitemap.This idea is introduced by google first but now it becomes a proved standard.IT is a sitemap format that all major search engine bot like google ,yahoo,msn,ask etc can easily understand.
