    Both Penguin and Panda are Google's algo to check web spammers and unnatural inbound links.
    Penguin:
    This algo is updated against unnatural inbound links, and web spamming.
    Panda:
    This is against low quality content, thin content, and copied content.

    Google penguin is the latest updated algorithm of google, which is used to prevent spamming.

    Google panda is a new algorithm that works against the website that contains low quality articles, blog and simply copy and paste the description from other website to their website to increase the search engine rankings.

    yes this is very good and simple knowledge about panda and penguin, Panda target to on page structure for example :- copy -scape cases etc.
    and penguin target to off page work for Example:- it want quality and natural links.

    There is a Wiki article (Google Penguin) that explain the difference. Check The differences between Penguin and previous updates section. After these updates, some seo ranking tools are not very effective any longer, for example, automatic submitters and such.
