What is Google "Panda"? :S

I hear it a lot now but have no idea as to what it is.

 

its a new algo defined by google to penalize duplicate content site and rank unique content sites on top of search engine,

P.S, it only seems to be affecting original sites so far

The panda is the new algorithm that google recently launched. The main google of the panda algo is to eliminate or remove those poor and low quality sites. Sites that has a duplicate content counted as a poor quality sites. The time panda has first launched last February, there are a lot of sites got affected by it. And not just the poor quality sites that got affected but also those sites having quality content in it. With quality sites, the panda boost their rankings and revenue.

 

basicly its the improvement google made to its search results to show better quality content for theirusers. this affected a lot of websites, as they had a drop in numbers of google traffic they received compared to pre panda update.

 

I have a old blog that i dont use anymore but it has some very interesting articles. If i transfer these articles to my new blog and delete the articles from my old blog... Is this where panda comes into action? And what would panda actually do?

 

Panda update is an algorithm designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites:

- sites that copy content from other websites or
- sites that are just not very useful or
- sites with poor user experience

Since the main update (in February and April), Google has been pushing small updates to the Panda filter all of which aim to improve Google search quality.

Yeah, I was wondering what it was exactly. At first I thought it was a new browser or anti-virus.

 

Google Panda is a change in Google algorithm in terms of displaying better search results. They usually update Google Panda for better search experience of users.

 

Algorithm change by Google. All the above and a nightmare for those who scrape and copy other website's content. It's mission is to help clean up the SERPs and serve up the best sites for users.

It is a new algorithm announced by Google.

 

Google Panda is an algorithm to detect duplicate content and content farms, so always ensure your site or where you are submitting content too does not have duplicate content or you will both be penalised

 

... And that's why you'll see that popular web 2.0 properties are not conquering top sites anymore for hot terms (google penalyzed them). Examples: hubpages.com, articlesbase.com and others. In case you submit your articles to web 2.0 properties try to submit to panda winners like squidoo.com.
