I want to know about Google local listing and its benefits to particular websites ranking.I also want to know about google places.

Google place is Google Service that offers u to submit Your Business Information in Google.

Google has separate database for Local Business and you call it Google Places http://www.google.com/places/ , what you use to submit your business profile / listing to get your business added in this database and when Google shows the search results from this database is called Google local listing what you see in Google maps or some times in Google organic results if your query has any place location name like web design delhi.
